Volunteer

Give your time. Change a life.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of SPARK Zone. Whatever your skills, there's a role that fits.

Mentors

Walk alongside a young person on their journey.

2 hours / fortnight · 12-month minimum

Become the consistent adult a young person can rely on. We match you 1:1 based on shared interests, identity and goals, and surround the relationship with training, supervision and a community of fellow mentors.

What you'll do

  • Meet your mentee for a structured session every fortnight
  • Help them set goals around school, applications or early career
  • Check in by message between sessions and flag concerns to staff
  • Attend quarterly group supervision and reflection sessions

What you'll get

  • Free safeguarding, mentoring and trauma-informed training
  • Enhanced DBS check covered by us
  • Reference for university or employer on completion

Workshop facilitators

Lead wellbeing, STEM or finance sessions.

1 session / month · flexible

Use your professional skills to deliver one of our existing workshops — or co-design a new one. Perfect for therapists, engineers, finance professionals, creatives and educators who want to give back without committing to weekly hours.

What you'll do

  • Deliver a 60–90 minute workshop from our curriculum, or co-build your own
  • Adapt content to the age group and energy in the room
  • Work alongside a SPARK staff lead and youth assistant
  • Share short feedback after each session to improve the programme

What you'll get

  • Full session plans, slides and materials provided
  • Practical facilitation training and shadowing before you lead
  • Recognition as a SPARK Zone associate facilitator

Community ambassadors

Represent SPARK in your local area.

3–5 hours / month · local

Be our voice and ears in your community — churches, mosques, barbershops, schools and estates. Ambassadors help families find us, surface unmet needs, and grow trust where it matters most.

What you'll do

  • Share SPARK Zone opportunities with families, schools and local groups
  • Represent us at local fairs, parents' evenings and community events
  • Feed back what your community is asking for so we can respond
  • Help recruit other volunteers and partner organisations

What you'll get

  • Branded kit, leaflets and digital assets
  • Travel and reasonable expenses covered
  • Direct line into the leadership team to shape new programmes

Event volunteers

Support our workshops and community events.

Per event · evenings & weekends

The role for people who want to help without a long-term commitment. Join the crew for showcases, family days, fundraisers and end-of-programme celebrations — we'll brief you, feed you, and make sure your time counts.

What you'll do

  • Set up the venue: signage, registration, refreshments, AV
  • Welcome young people and families and guide them through the day
  • Support photography, social content and live capture (optional)
  • Pack down and help with a short post-event debrief

What you'll get

  • Food, drinks and SPARK Zone t-shirt on the day
  • Travel expenses reimbursed within reason
  • A flexible way to try volunteering before committing to more
